Brooklands, Royal Automobile Club, London, UK, 1 February 2026

The Royal Automobile Club is (of course) a private members club. However, in the first place, a breakfast is a breakfast; and in the second place, you may be a member or member a correspondent club. So you may still be able to try the breakfast.

So: previously, the Brooklands restaurant only had a menu option. I don’t know when this changed, but now they have both a menu and a continental buffet, and you can combine them. ‘Continental’ in this case means no hot dishes; but you get this from the menu, and some of them are included in the price of the buffet, while others (like a ‘full English’) will cost extra. Jams, marmalades and honey on the tables. The buffet is small, but reasonably varied, with bread and pastries (nice croissants!), two kinds of salmon and cold cuts. A good spread of fresh (cut-up) fruit. In general, everything is top-quality. We ordered scrambled eggs, which were excellent. On the drawbacks, the tea is bags only (and it shouldn’t be at the RAC!); the cheese choice was limited (two types of sliced English cheese) and no vegetables. But this is still well over average and a major improvement on the past. Definitely worth 6.5/10.
