This seems to be the trip where I return to old reviews. I wrote about the Madera almost three years ago, giving it 7/10; but when we checked in this time, we were told that they have substantially changed the breakfast, necessitating a new review. So, here goes: The change was to make the breakfast ‘continental’, which means fewer cooked dishes and more bread and pastry. This means a bar with a few things, including some extremely low quality croissants (I didn’t even taste them, looking was enough to turn me off!); some distinctly dry and unappetising sandwiches ‘(I did unfortunately take one); some reasonable fruit and yoghurt mix, all right muffins and some fresh fruit (I tried a banana, it was inedible). Every item individually priced. We are staying in the hotel four nights, but are not returning to the breakfast which I will award 1/10.
