I often point out that even a small breakfast can be both varied and very good indeed. This one, is an example of the opposite, namely that bigger isn’t always better. Not that it was bad; it wasn’t. But even so. The first thing that struck me was that on arrival in a five-star hotel, nobody opened the door and when we entered, nobody came up to welcome us or ask what we were looking for. This is of course not the restaurant’s fault, but it gives an impression. Next, when I asked for tea with milk on the side, the milk was forgotten and I had to repeat my request not once but twice. However, I have to say that the restaurant apologised and only charged the two of us for one breakfast.
As to the food: a very varied buffet, with egg station, phở, western warm dishes, Korean and Indian. In addition, cold cuts and a salad bar, a very impressive juice bar, nice bread selection and fruit. The phở was excellent. The bread was very good, varied and crusty, Although the croissants were somewhat disappointing. Good choice of cold cuts but no fish, and the cheese selection was quite small. Also, the fruit selection was a bit disappointing. The overall impression was quite good, but not stupendous. My companion says 7, but the apology for the milk debacle in my eyes raises it to 7.5/10.
