Parador de Salamanca, Salamanca, Spain, 15 March 2025

There is an interesting feature at this breakfast. There are no implements for taking any of the food at the buffet. Instead, you get wooden tongs on your table, and have to remember to bring them each time you go to get food. We wondered if this was a remnant from Covid. Overall, a nice buffet. Good spread of pastries (including regional specialties), cold cuts, yoghurt and fruit. The bread is very nice (although the croissants are a little bit soft). Special provision for lactose or gluten intolerant guests. No salad or vegetables though, and the orange juice is not freshly squeezed, which seems strange in Spain. There is no hot dishes buffet, but you can order egg dishes and they will be prepared there and then for you. Overall therefore, quite good, ending up at 7.5/10. If the orange juice had been freshly squeezed, it would’ve been 8/10.
