The environment: Surprisingly comfortable oasis – luxurious and elegant – in a nice part of Stockholm. Comfortable chairs and conducive to conversation.
Staff: Friendly greeting on arrival. Later somewhat difficult to order. Correct, but weak knowledge about the menu and its contents.
The food: Nicely presented in, as already noted, a pleasant environment. Not abundant but well chosen offerings. Unfortunately the quality was uneven. Very good fresh berries, exclusive top-class yoghurt. But sliced tomatoes and sliced cheese that seemed a day old. Wide choice of coffee, including cappuccino and brewed coffee of good quality And finally there was a generous menu from which to choose cooked dishes. We picked a chia pudding, which was excellent, and an omelette that unfortunately was inedible. The gravad lax (marinated salmon) slices were too thick and had not marinated fully, so they were too tough and salty, something that it had been attempted to disguise by adding ground chili powder on top.
Overall judgement: At this price and in this environment, you would expect a more welcoming and knowledgable staff, as well as offerings of a consistently high quality. Particularly when the buffet consists of a few, carefully chosen items. In these circumstances the quality must be guaranteed, which, as noted, was not the case at Villa Dagmar this beautiful Stockholm morning.
Our breakfast companions: Continental, world class!
All in all, 6.5/10. (Viveka & Gerdt Larsson)
