Orange Lanzhou Zhongchuan Airport T3 Hotel, Lanzhou, China, 27 October 2026

Quite a few differences from the standard H Group hotel breakfast, almost all no doubt due to this being an airport hotel and likely to have foreign visitors staying. Notably, there was more bread choice, including ready-made sandwiches, butter knives (although you have to ask for butter), and more signs in English explaining the various dishes. Unfortunately, the hot water dispenser is still impossible to understand or use without an advanced engineering degree; and many of the ‘warm’ dishes were, in fact, cold. So this breakfast, too, will be rated 6.5/10. Lest that should sound too negative, I wish to repeat that this is certainly above average and a perfectly decent breakfast. The more so if you like Chinese breakfast. But, like all ratings on this blog, the final mark is by necessity subjective.
